Reports
- EdUS - They stand in support of the anti-austerity measures, however voted against a strike. If their student body proposes a strike, a referendum will be held with the student vote. Next year’s potential strikes is all in question regarding the austerity measures and the decision of the teacher’s union.
- QBA - QBA has online registration for membership. The membership link on the QBA website should be promoted to other music education students.
Professional Development
- Drum Circle Facilitation - The workshop was on Monday. There were 6 attendees. We should have promoted a lot more in classes and by poster, etc. Next year, we should really stress promotion. In class announcements are extremely effective! The workshop was cool. Becky will contact the workshop attendees to see if they want to facilitate. Kathleen will contact Donald A. Wilson Secondary School on tour to see if they would like to participate in the drum circle practice.
- Raffle for Conducting Symposium - Raffle for a 100$ rebate for the conducting symposium in Montreal. In the emails preceding showcase, we can advertise the rebate and have all who are interested sign up at the door of the showcase. Their names will be placed in a fun hat and will be picked out during the evening. The winner MUST show proof of enrollment prior to receiving the rebate.
Academic
- Music Ed Courses for Next Year - MEdUSA should promote the new courses to classes.
Social
- Showcase - We have the room booking. All going to be in the lounge (performances too). The room is booked right until 6. We will try to push them out a little early to set up. We have the liquor permit all set. Promote, promote, promote!
General
- Alumni - Alumni have been attending workshops. The council officially decided to include our alumni in professional development events, but it should be clarified in the constitution regarding the priority list of workshops and events. An end of year email should be sent out by the outgoing President, with a special section devoted to the future alumni, welcoming them back for workshops next year.
Next Meeting: Before Showcase. 4pm.
Adjournment: Chris motions to close the meeting at 19:09, Trevor seconds.
