Agenda & Proceedings:
Social
- Showcase: It’s next Friday. Chris will make a Facebook event and posters. Chris is going to go physically talk to the building director to make sure we have the 8th Floor Lounge. Chris and Karissa are going to go to Costco this weekend. Promote it in your classes! The deadline for performing will be noon on the day of.
- Young Alumni Panel: Kiel joined the panel last minute. Thanks to Kathleen for replacing Heather last minute and moderating. It didn’t go exactly as we planned, but it was okay. Old Dub was successful because it was easy to order food but in the future it would be good to move it back to the 8th Floor Lounge because we lost some of the attendees in the move from the room to the lounge..
- Drum Circle: See meeting notes on Drive.
Communications
- Enews: Send Heather blurbs before Monday.
Academic
- Advising Session: It’s in the 8th Floor conference room next Thursday from 4-6. Naomi will update the footbook and bring requirements for concurrent, advanced placement, and minor programs. Naomi will also have a presentation before we move on to individual advising.
General
- First Year Buddies: The administration hasn’t met to decide who has been accepted yet, but Lisa will email Heather the list as soon as she has it.
- Music Monday: Holly Nimmons is the director of a coalition for music educators called Music Makes Us. She was in Montreal for an event called Music Monday. Every year they choose a piece and a lot of schools rehearse it, then perform it in public. Last year they performed with Chris Hadfield (!). This year they are going to webcast performances from across the country. They are organising a concert in Montreal with both students and professionals. They are looking for someone from the youth sector to talk to the media. David exchanged information with her so we can work with them in the future. This year Music Monday is May 5 from 12-1 at the Quebec Council for the Arts. She is going to try to come to the lab band concert.
- Next Meeting: Next Friday at 15:30 in the 8th Floor Lounge.
Adjournment: Chris motions to close the meeting at 18:22, Naomi seconds
