Agenda & Proceedings:
Professional Development:
- Gabby Smith: Workshop was last Thursday - thanks to those who came out! 11 people attended. Becky feels we were still having trouble getting people to come out to the workshop. We’ll really work on promoting the next one. Becky will look into locating her to give her a thank you card.
- Shelagh McKibbon-U’Ren: She is interested in doing a workshop. Would charge $200 for workshop and travel. Best night would be a Thursday evening. Proposals for topic of workshop are uploaded to google drive under “proposals”. Becky will stay in contact with her to solidify time and topic.
- French Lessons: Becky put the poll on the music ed facebook group. The casual conversation group seemed to be the most popular. Lots of people wanting to teach French, not a whole lot wanting to learn. If we open it up to non-music ed students, we might get more students. Start up will be next semester and it will be added to the E-NEWS for December and January.
Finance
- Sweaters: Forms and money will go in the cashbox. Any council member can collect. Due Thursday, November 13. Will still be accepted on the Friday for the advanced placement students.
- Budget: EdUS got back to Gill, but we’ll get EdUS to check it again. Still working on MUSA.
Reports
- EdUS Report: There is a coalition of student societies across Quebec who want to get students to be paid for fourth stage. Education was approached to start a committee and they are considering.
General
- Drum Circle: Monday, December 8, MEdUSA is having a drum circle for de-stressing activity for exams. A sign up on the SSMU website will go out. Max 30 students per session. 2 sessions total. It will be held in the SSMU building. Heather and Chris will facilitate. Naomi will be in charge for the first half of the day, Chris for the second half. Moving the drums will be done by us on council. McGill Student Life and Learning will hire a moving truck again. Moving team must be music ed students - Chris, Doug, Naomi (morning), will ask Pei and Eve-Marie. Naomi will be in contact about advertising and details.
Next Meeting: Next Sunday at 17:15 in A510
Adjournment: Becky motions to close the meeting at 18:07, Heather seconds.
