Agenda & Proceedings:
Finance
- Budget: Still no numbers from MUSA. Gill is trying to figure out the numbers on her own, but we will wait for official numbers to confirm. Tabled.
- Swag: We have decided we want our swag to stay “McGill Music Education” but without the McGill font. Kathleen will ask her aunt if she can make us a logo to use. Gill will call the company to finish setting up the website we will use.
Social
- Festivus: We received two emails from Lisa: one is a confirmation of the room and the other of the alcohol order.
Professional Development
- Workshops: The next workshop is on Tuesday at 18:00. Doug will start working on the conducting masterclass. This year is instrumental so it will be with Alain Cazes and Jonathan Dagenais. It will be at the end of January/beginning of February. In order to pick conductors we will give a time frame of 24 hours to respond and then draw out of a hat. We will also state that if you have participated in the instrumental conducting masterclass you cannot do it again.
General
- Drum Circle: Mitchel has not communicated with Allie or Counselling Services to find a new room. It is possible that we could use Gerts. If this is not possible we will look at doing it in the music building.
- Website: Naomi and Heather updated the website. Professional Development and Social have to put their events on the events pages.
- Brandon Proposal: There is a chance that 1-2 of us can go to the BUSMEA Da Capo conference in January. We have to write a proposal to submit to Lisa who will take it to the Dean. It is possible that they would pay for food and flights. Naomi has emailed BUSMEA to see if they would host us. We drew names and the people who would go are Heather and Colin.
- MHFA: Heather and Colin attended mental health first aid training on the weekend. It was useful. Colin will look into booking it for other people who are interested.
- Constitution Subcommittee: We need to form a subcommittee to update the constitution. We need 3 council members and 2 members-at-large. Naomi, Heather, Colin, and Gill volunteered. Meetings would start in January.
- Extra Project Reports: Heather and Naomi are the only ones who have reports. Do it!
- Volunteer Fair: Naomi would like Pei to write an official event report for the volunteer fair.
- EdUS Vote: We voted to abstain. The vote was overwhelmingly in favour of taking a stance in support of the teachers’ strike but not being militant.
Next Meeting: Next week, same time, same place
Adjournment: Naomi motions to close the meeting at 19:55, Eve-Marie seconds
