VP Finance
- Sweaters: Jason re-did some stuff and Gill has sent it to us. Prices: McGill bookstore price - $52 without tax, $60 with tax. We could make the price $60 to match this. We’re going to do this so we have a little leeway if prices change, plus we get a little profit. We want to let alumni know about them as well in case they want a sweater. Gill will ask for samples, but if we can’t get them we’ll get people to go to the bookstore to try sizes etc. Assuming we get the order form in time we’ll start advertising at the First Year Event.
- Extra Project: Gill is getting involved with the community outside McGill, but she doesn’t know where to start. She is in Education without Borders, but their stuff is pretty vague. Maybe something like education doesn’t always have to be academic. Trying to get non-music teachers more involved with music in their classrooms.
- MUSA Meetings: They haven’t set a meeting time for the next one.
- Budget: Still no more information from anyone. McGill is not telling MUSA or EdUS so they can’t give it to us :(
VP Prof Dev
- Shawn's workshop: October 9! but the room hasn’t been confirmed yet. Kathleen will make an event on Facebook.
- Stephane Crete - technology in the music classroom: QBA mentor. We’re still solidifying dates. It will be either late November or next semester.
- Alain Juteau - take your ensemble to the festival!: Monday, November 4. He’s really excited! No time yet and then make a room booking.
- Lisa Lorenzino - next semester's workshops - QBA: There are a few she might have lined up. Lisa sent Kathleen some information on workshops that she’s looking into. Lisa is going to make a minimum of 2 workshops mandatory for her class.
VP Academic
- QMEA fundraiser: Becky is working on the order form. She would like photos of the products, but Naomi does not have the keyrings from Theodora yet. Becky created a Google account for Viva Sistema. They will have to be picked up. Some people might want to donate money, but they would have to go through FACE. To get a tax receipt it has to be over $25 (or maybe over $100?) We’re going to outsource the making of the necklaces so that we don’t have to make everything. We had some suggestions for the video advertisement.
VP Social
- First year event: Submitted liquor permit. We’re going to be reimbursed for the permit. This means we can get wine and more food (PC appetizers). If we figure out the dates of our next events early, then we can get the permit done quickly. We’ll use the MEdUSA stamp to mark those who are underage. MUSA has a Costco membership and we want to get in on it. Posters need to be up ASAP. We need to make announcements in all our classes about it. Minor in Music Ed can be invited. Other faculties/performance are welcome if they can find a music ed buddy. We need to have a list of everyone who RSVP. We will all announce in our music ed classes. There needs to be enough change in the cashbox. Need to make sure there’s enough plates and napkins. They need keys for the lounge and kitchen. Do we need decorations? Hopefully everyone will dress up. Make sure there is the grocery list will all the food.
President
- First year rep: Becky will meet with Wes to discuss how the council works. He is responsible for representing the first years (if he can find any first years!). He is our rep on the MUSA council, so he has to attend MUSA meetings and bring up any concerns we have that relate to MUSA.
- Office Keys: Should have them by the end of next week.
- Music ed/minor/advanced placement lists: Heather has first years, advanced placement, and graduate from Lisa. She is waiting for the minor in music ed from MUSA, who are waiting for McGill. Gill is going to go to the 7th floor to get the list.
- Conducting masterclass: Becky is waiting for a reply from Alain about the Dr Dale Lonis masterclass. Once Becky gets the list she’ll send it out to everyone who got accepted.
- MEdUSA retreat: Gill can’t come anymore. 4 people will be in the car and the other 3 will be on the bus. Hopefully the transportation fee will be covered by MEdUSA but we will be buying food ourselves. We’ll be doing a potluck thing where we split up meals.
Adjournment: Becky motions to close the meeting at 17:39, Kathleen seconds
