Reports
- Exit Reports, Final Budget, Event Reports: Exit reports are due by the end of April. Becky will send an outline of what to include. Gill will do a final budget. Also don’t forget to do event reports.
- Meeting with Lisa: They have accepted 22 people for next year. We will get the names on Monday for First Year Buddies. Special projects: if you want to, you can get a special project form from the seventh floor. You can make this project doing sectionals at a school, if you want. You need a supervising teacher. They have to be any instructor at McGill. You have to propose how you will be evaluated and how many hours a week you will do. You give the form to Lisa and Christoph Neidhofer for approval. Movement, Music and Communication has not been offered for 7 years. We could propose to have it run again, but we would have to get a professor from the education department.
- Meeting with Sara Laimon: This was a follow-up from the McGill-QBA meeting. Naomi asked if it would be possible for the conservatory to run Orff certification courses for teachers in Montreal. Sara is going to meet with Lisa to find an instructor. It would not be for next year, but it’s now in the works. Sara is going to try and make a permanent booking on the room booking schedule for a biweekly drum circle. She is also okay with Naomi trying to integrate a drum circle into her parents class.
- EdUS: FEWG is meeting on April 17 from 15:30-17:00. Naomi is supposed to go but she has an exam at 14:00. Doug has also volunteered to go. We won the food drive!
Social
- Twigg Wine and Cheese: It’s April 15 at 19:00, at Twigg. You go and drink wine and eat cheese. You get to meet the Twiggs. It’s mostly for graduating students to get to know the store.
- Showcase: It’s tonight! We have food and alcohol! Chris has made programs.
- Drum Circle: It’s happening on April 16 from 12-2. Shawn asked the world drumming class but most people have an exam. Chris has offered to run the second circle. So Heather and Chris will each facilitate one circle for one hour each.
Academic
- End of Year Meeting with Lisa: Lisa sent us an email inviting MEdUSA to an end of the year wrap up/vision for the future meeting with her and the other music ed profs. We think that Naomi and Doug (VP Academics), David (New Horizons), and Heather and Becky (Presidents) should attend. We will let her know when we are available.
- Advising Followup: Only Joanna came, apart from the council. Lisa said that a lot of individuals have come to see her personally. Maybe for next year we can have the packages in the office and then let people know they can come ask us questions during our office hours, like drop-in advising.
General
- Music Monday: The piece they have commissioned this year has been translated into a lot of languages. Except French. So they were wondering if MEdUSA was interested in making a recording of the song in French that they could upload on their site. We think we should do it!
- Room Booking: There was miscommunication between us and Katherine Simons about what rooms we have booked for tonight. Next year she will not be dealing with these bookings. She mentioned that the Dean has restricted access to the lounge, which we will bring up in our next meeting. We are going to get her a thank you card and SAQ card to thank her for her hard work this year.
- Next Meeting/Potluck: Wednesday April 23 at 18:00 at Becky’s house. We will use the budget to get pizza and drinks, and then you can bring either an appetizer or dessert.
Adjournment: Becky motions to close the meeting at 16:28, Chris seconds.
