- QBA Honour Bands - January 17th is beginner Honour Band at Vanier College (8-5:30). Honour Band is held Feb 6 evening (4:30-9) and Feb 7 (8 am - 9 pm) at Vanier. QBA needs volunteers. Contact Liz Huyer for volunteering opportunities.
- Conducting Workshop - Participants have met with Patricia Abbott for lessons. Workshop is January 19th at 11:30-1:30 in Tanna Schulich Hall with Francois Ouimet. Doug will arrange payment for the clinicians. Gill will arrange to rent a camera from the library so that the participants will have a recording of their conducting and Francois’ comments. There will be a short warm up for the singers prior to the conducting that one of the participants will get to do. It will be put in the ENEWS for other students to attend.
- French Conversation Groups - Question of sustainability. Thursdays at 5:45 - 6:45 in the Music Cafeteria. The first one’s theme: Bonjour/Hi. Will start on January 15th. Will be included in the ENEWS. There will be food. Doug will do the intro to the event since Becky will not be there. Goal of this: to establish a sustainable conversation group that will work on its own. To have a community for learning French.
- MELE (Music Education Lesson Exchange) - We should start this semester! It could be a facebook group where people would request their preferred instrument. Heather will create a document that will link to the MEdUSA group stating the teachers and the instruments that can be learned.
- Body Percussion - Lisa approached Heather and she is working on getting a 6-week, once per week, with the Brazilian Body Percussionist that did the workshop in Lisa’s Issues In Music Ed class. Proposed that it will be the 6 weeks leading up to Reading Week. MEdUSA stamp of approval on the workshops.
Communications
- ENEWS - Get blurbs in by noon tomorrow.
Reports
- QMEA Report - Lisa is a member of the QMEA now. Lisa is arranging for a workshop in conjunction with QMEA under MEdUSA. Set for October 2015 for Jazz Orff.

General
- Office Hours - Fill out doodle.
- Montreal New Horizons Band - David contacted Heather. He is going to try to come to our next meeting to act as a liaison between MEdUSA and the MNHB.
- Semester Proposals - Gill’s is done. Becky and Naomi need to get them done by the end of the month.
- Drum Circle Follow Up - thanks to all who helped set up the event! Not as well attended as we hoped. But, everyone who went really enjoyed it. Naomi had a follow up meeting with Robyn in Student Life and Learning. They requested that more faculties participate in the payment of the rental of the room. Naomi has written a draft to pitch to MUSA’s student life fund. Proposed to bring it to the attention of the Dean of Music for more music outreach. If neither SSMU or MUSA approve the proposal, we will apply to Counseling Services. A proposal is made for Midterm season to be held in the Strathcona Music Building so that instruments do not have to be moved. Naomi will confer with Shawn Mativetsky.
- Elections - Becky will be the Election Chief. Chris may be involved as well.
Next Meeting: Another doodle will be made to be filled out by the council.
Adjournment: Heather motions to close the meeting at 19:52 , Becky seconds.
