Approval of Agenda: Sam motions to approve, Heather seconds.
Agenda & Proceedings:
- Website: The link from the McGill website to the MEdUSA website is now updated.
- MATL: Lisa is glad to hear of our interest in the planning process, and will keep us updated for future meetings.
- Semester Proposals: A reminder that semester proposals are due next Wednesday.
- Office & Office Hours: Diana has contacted MUSA to get rid of the computers. Nathan will follow up with selling/giving away the two guitar amps. Diana will see if the printer works. Becky will organize the office hours schedule and post it on the website.
- EdUS Report: No one else is available for the SEAMLESS summit.
- MUSA Report: The next MUSA meeting is Thursday January 17th at 6pm in A-412. Nathan can tentatively attend, if Sarah is not available to.
- Elections: A small sub council met to plan for elections. Information on all forms will be updated, and the number of signatures on the nomination form will be changed to 10. Information will be provided on attending MEdUSA meetings if applicants find that they cannot get enough signatures. Council has revised the descriptions of each position to be advertised.
- Choral Conducting Masterclass Review: Everything went smoothly. A big thank you to Patricia Abbott and Francois Ouimet for their participation. Sam will follow up with payment to Patricia Abbott. She is interested in donating her fee back to the Music Education department, and Sam will contact Lisa about this. The masterclass was videotaped, and will be provided to participants.
- Upcoming Workshops:
- QBA Mentoring: No updates.
- MEdUSA-Funded Workshops: Nathan posted posters for the Garage Band workshop on January 21st. The room will be changed to C-301, and the start time will have to change to 8:00pm. Nathan will take care of getting a projector from the building director for the event. Nathan will create a facebook event for both upcoming workshops. The Elementary Classroom Management workshop will be on January 30th at 6pm in A-510.
- Sweaters: Diana will contact Quality Sport directly. Wearing sweaters to Music Ed classes has proven to be a great advertising tactic so far.
- QBA Report: Beginner Band is this weekend, Honour Band is February 8-9th. Volunteers should contact [email protected].
- QMEA:
- Becky met with Theodora today, she would like us to become a chapter of CMEA. This would allow us to receive their journal, a reduced fee for our students to become members of CMEA (from $20 to $15), and opportunities to apply for grants. Theodora will follow up with more information on how to do this.
- They may be able to provide a reduced fee for the Orff workshop on February 21st, if some students are able to volunteer on that day.
- Jamaican Association of Montreal: Becky has followed up with the association, and is working with the president to develop the program.
- Next Meeting: Wednesday, January 23rd and 4:30pm. Room TBC.
Adjournment: Liz motions to close the meeting at 18h04, Sam and Becky and Heather second.
