Agenda & Proceedings:
Professional Development
- Steve Dubinsky: It has been confirmed: March 13. He has not confirmed the time. He asked to be emailed a week in advance, which is when he’ll know his schedule. The workshop will be in E-109. It will probably be around 18:00 or 18:30. It’s now emergency repair for both woodwind and brass. Kathleen will make a poster and we’ll announce it when we get back.
Academic
- Advising Session: The week of April 8 is when the registration period starts. We think the week before is when you’ll be able to see the schedule. The advising session will be April 3. Naomi will update the footbook and make sure she has the forms that say what classes we have to take.
Social
- Young Alumni Panel: Kathleen will ask Lisa if this can be used as a workshop for the general music assignment. We think it should be, but we will check with her. All other discussion is tabled until Chris is back.
Communications
- Enews: Send your blurbs to Heather by the last Sunday of reading week.
Finance
- Grilled Cheese Sale: We made $150! Hooray! Thanks to everyone who helped.
General
- Welcome to the Dean: We introduced what our roles are and what the council does.
- Music Ed Scholarship: It is very hard for the school to get enough money to get a decent scholarship, especially as donors want to donate to performance. The Dean believes that it would be more impactful for McGill to use donated money to, for example, repair instruments as opposed to making a small scholarship. It is also possible for people who want to donate to music ed to say so when they donate their money.
- Elections: 23 people voted. Everyone was approved! The council for next year is:
VP Communications - Kathleen Booth
VP Finance - Gillian Chen
VP Professional Development - Becky ‘tMannetje
VP Academic - Doug Giroux
President - Heather Worling
- Next meeting: Two weeks from now, usual time usual place.
Adjournment: Becky motions to close the meeting at 18:51, Kathleen seconds
